The Ubud Writers and Readers Festival (UWRF) is an annual literary festival held by the Yayasan Mudra Swari Saraswati in Ubud. The Eco Warriors were fortunately invited to attend part of this year’s event. A total of twelve students, who take part in reflective activities during their time at our Learning Centre, joined the discussion in the event Mulat Sarira or Self-Reflection.

At the event entitled ‘Self Reflection and Loving Kindness’, the Eco Warriors learned to contemplate goodness. They also learned about the meaning of  the mantra, Om Shanti Shanti Shanti Om, which means peace, peace, peace.

On Saturday, October 16, 2021, another ten students joined the session, Bringing History to Today. After the session, the students joined the discussion about the importance of history. They learned that understanding history does not mean finding out what is right or wrong, but being able to learn from experience. They also learned that the easiest history to research is family history.

It was not only the UWRF event that they enjoyed. What was very interesting for the Eco Warriors was the Ubud Artisan Market. The exhibition, which was held at Taman Baca Ubud, really attracted the attention of the children. They could see a variety of eco-friendly products and works of art. During their visit, they confidently and enthusiastically spoke with the artists and entrepreneurs.

Thank you to Ibu Janet DeNeefe for inviting the Eco Warriors to Ubud Writers and Readers Festival (UWRF) so they can learn a lot of new things! (Zeni Natalya)
